Yo,
Last January I used a air gun to put up a rope up over a 110' fir. I
cut the wire and the 4 elevated verticals according to N6LF's writings and
it works well on 80M (ie DX stations could hear me). I did use a Stihl
chainsaw and brush whacker to clear out a bit of space so the brush
wouldn't interfere more than it did. The elevated radials are only 8' above
ground and it is a thick enough forest that I had trees placed
appropriately so that I could get the radials all running pretty much at
right angles one to another while being above the thistle and poison oak
and nettles and such.
There might be a small amount of attenuation of the RF at HF
frequencies but not enough to keep a guy from trying to get on the air due
to the forest. Attenuation is significantly more at VHF/UHF frequencies
than at HF. This made use of thickly treed timberland and gave me another
option on 80M. You could put up a few monoband verticals like this for
different bands and put out a reasonably good signal on the bands of
choice. If you're looking for multiband capabilities then that would take
a bit more study.
     73 and I remain,
    Lew w7ew
