If I recall correctly there was a time between potted ends and Big Grips that
wire rope clips were recommended for Phillystran. I had a few guys like this
on my Rohn 65G tower while in Chicago. I still use wire rope clips for
Phillystran boom trusses usually HTPG-2100I pr HTPG-4000I. Yes it crushed the
cable but I have yet to have an issue with the Kevlar fibers plus using a Big
Grip would defeat must of the purpose for having a non-conductive truss.

The preforms are not only the manufacturers recommended but they are not that
expensive to do it right and above all safe.
