I have mixed feelings about this - as I often work quite a few
uniques in the ARRL November SSB Sweepstakes. I spend time talking
guys through the exchange - some only work me - others go on to work
other stations. But I think there are classes of uniquies that
go against the spirit of the contest - say if 15 or 20 locals get on
and only work me - indeed they might never work contests or rarely
get on HF but I or one of my friends talks them into getting
on the air and might even imply that if they work me I stand a better
chance of winning. Clearly if they were to work anyone else they
could assume they are working against the advantage of them getting
on and working me and just me.
I do not think this is right.
If this happens in the Nov. SS on CW - 15 or 20 contacts can be the
diffrence between 1st and 6th place.
Ditching 222Mhz and arming the locals with 24ghz radios is looking better and
better.
