I think what Lee is trying to say is , your not going to be able to go out
and buy the skill to copy Phone or CW by ear
and then actually copy it through a noisey contest band. This skill takes
years of devoted time and experience to be good. Not to mention the
band operating savy.

I think WSJT is fine for some folks and has a place in Ham Radio, but not in
the current VHF/UHF contest. To me, its kind of like moving all the cell
phones (new tools) to a ham band and having a contest to see how many people
you can contact in 24 hours. Obviously, the guy that can use the
preprogrammed autodial features the quickest and has the most luck getting
the line will win. The biggest thing you can improve on here is buying a
faster processor.
IMO, the ARRL is wrong to allow this technology to count in the conventional
SSB CW FM contest and should create new contest with band segments for this
mode of operation.
Heck, I could be a champion weight lifter if I could use a hydraulic jack in
the competition. (New Tool)
