The first one was in 1978.   It slowly grew to 249 logs in 1994, then dropped 
to 164 by 1998.  Another effort to promote it in 1999 brought it back to 250 
logs.   The number of entries have dropped since then, and were at 140 last 
year.

Dropping the UHF contest is not a "done deal", but it sure seems it doesn't 
have the right format or time of year or something.
