A question for you experts out there. In the Spring, I plan to put
some small antennas up on the roof, including a 1296 loop beam.
The coax run is straight to my rig with 125 feet of low loss coax (Bury Flex.)
Forgive my rookie question - will I need a pre-amp on the mast
for that band?

Hi Jamie,
Much depends on what you mean by "need". In your area (FM19?) you have quite a
density of 1296 capable stations. I doubt you'll need a preamp to hear most of
them. However...if you want to work me (FN03) you'll probably benefit from
having one.
I worked FM19 from here in January...but only a couple of the big guns.
Best wishes,
Ev, W2EV
