I then spent the full 100 bucks for a dc
dc converter for my laptop and still got hash. I wrapped that converter up
in tin foil and a copper braid to ground and the NB took it out.

I've used a DC-DC car adapter for my laptop in my HF mobile operations, and
it is dead quiet. For convenience I always have run it from a separate 20 AH
battery.

A friend tried a DC-DC converter and had a lot of noise while running it
from the car's electrical system. He then went the separate battery route,
and
the noise disappeared.

The separate battery trick still does not cure the AC-DC inverter noise.
But for the computer, you might give it a try.
