Jim,
Not exactly correct Writelog emits both State for USA and "Area" for
Canada, and "DX" for all others in it's Cabrillo file. Both U.S. State and
Canadian "area" are required to determine mults. Log checking figures out
DX Mults from Callsign. But based on Don's latest info. that couldn't work
for Canada ( VE1 being two possible mults NS and NB) so QTH has to be
emitted to allow Canadian mults to be determined and it'srequired in the
Cabrillo template. Here's test output from Writelog 10.32e run today:
QSO: 3500 RY 2002-09-05 1521 N1NB 599 5 CT VO1ABC 599 5 NF
QSO: 3500 RY 2002-09-05 1522 N1NB 599 5 CT VE5ABC 599 4 SK
QSO: 3500 RY 2002-09-05 1522 N1NB 599 5 CT N1ABC 599 5 MA
QSO: 3500 RY 2002-09-05 1522 N1NB 599 5 CT SK1ABC 599 14 DX
QSO: 3500 RY 2002-09-05 1524 N1NB 599 5 CT VE1NS 599 5 NS
QSO: 3500 RY 2002-09-05 1524 N1NB 599 5 CT VE1NB 599 5 NB
Further if one edits the log changing the Canadian QTH's (NF,SK,.....) to
DX WT4I sees the QSOs as zero pts.
If you remove the DX from all QSOs with DX is sees the SK1 as a valid qso
and mult and the Canadian ones as zero pts.
Interestingly the example at
http://www.kkn.net/~trey/cabrillo/cqww-rtty.txt doesn't include any
Canadian calls. But the Cabtillo template says include the exchange and the
exchange includes State/Area for US/Canada.

>Mults aren't listed in the Cabrillo file for CQWW - only RST and Zone,
>plus STATE for USA and DX for others (at least that's what my Writelog
>output contains). So it's a moot point. The log checking software will
>determine the multiplier and score accordingly.
