I think RAM is probably more important than CPU speed with WL. A
133 mhz machine should work OK with at least 96M RAM. I am
presently using a 200 mhz machine with 96M RAM and it made a
BIG difference when I went from 64M to 96M. This PC is the most
solid of the 3 I've used here with WL so far - two on Win98, one on Win95.

Before I retired it, I used a Win95 machine at 166 mhz and it worked
fine for WL once I increased the RAM to 96M(?) I think. The biggest
problem was when my log got up over 1000 Q's, the 166 mhz PC
would take too long to save the log for my liking.

One thing that will not work well is the CW decoder. It barely works
on my 200 mhz PC and works much better on my 333 mhz machine. I
recently bought a new Dell 2.4 ghz machine for the YL (she always gets
the best machine in the house) and therefore have acquired the 500 mhz
machine she was using which I am looking forward to using with WL.
The 500 mhz PC will replace the 333 mhz because I've never been able
to transmit on MMTTY without some sort of occasional error, whereas
the 200 mhz PC has been rock solid with MMTTY.

I guess you know you are a serious contester when you rate your computers
on how well they work with WriteLog (or any additional plug-ins like MMTTY) hi.
