It depends on the mode in use. In CW, it is normal and acceptable to
use CW cut number conventions. In other modes, cut numbers are
_totally_ inappropriate. It bugs me every time I print a 5NN on RTTY,
because that takes even longer to send than 599, but I would be
equally bugged if I heard a full 599 sent in a CW exchange - same reason.
