In the pass I asked that question & based on the answer today during RAC
contest I modified the ini file fpr cw reception.
I used this (CW_MIN=12 and also 15 ) but readind became erratic.
Returned to CW_MIN=20 and it is ok.
But in setup section / port / cw speed section on that page we can reduce
speed to 7 wpm but my target is nothing less than 12 wpm.
I tried it but there is no change and it does'nt reed under 20 wpm or
close.
Is there some one ever tried that and succeeded

With my icom-ic 7600 the xmit freq is 600 hz tone and the receive freq
tone
(if the cw pitch button is in the center position ) is about 750 hz so
there
is an offset of 200 hz.
If I modify the cw pitch evrething change with the same offset.
I tried to modify the ini file to CW_XMIT_FREQ=700 to have a 100 hz
instead
but it does'nt change.
Can we change the radio TRX freq from Writelog or in the radio ? on my
system it seems not to work.
What is the most popular CW offset?

I have my ini file set to CW_XMIT_FREQ=700 too. To get the IC-7600 closer
to this setting do the following. Press the EXIT/SET button to get to a
clear screen on the radio. Now press and hold the FILTER button for 2
seconds and a graph will open on screen showing your filter center
frequency
and the bandwidth skirts for the selected filter. Turn the CW PITCH knob
a
bit until the center frequency number equals 700. Now push the FILTER
button again to check the settings on the next filter. Again, change the
CW
PITCH to 700 Hz. Do the same for the third filter. When all have 700 Hz
as
the center frequency push the EXIT/SET button go get back to the main
screen. You can now display the SCOPE or anything else you want.
Now when I transmit CW the WriteLog CW Receiver shows a slight offset on
the
transmit frequency. By clicking on the signal with the mouse the yellow
vertical line changes position and the Rx frequency shows 674, quite a bit
closer to the 700 Hz setting in the ini file and CW Pitch settings. For
me
this is not a problem.

Thanks Gary I had forgotten about the later method. I will try that for
him
and myself. I had used that sometime ago but really did not have much
luck
with it. As far as sending I am not for sure how my friend is going to
send. When I did use writelog for cw I was able to send with the keyboard
using computer generated results.
Thanks for reminding me of how to set cw up and maybe we can get it going.

I would be tempted to uninstall and do a new installation. You need to
ensure that you have an installer with the words "full" somewhere within
it. I imagine this is what you are using but just in case.

You do need to have the .net framework installed as well. Not sure - you
may want to do a windows update and just make sure you have that
installed.
Other than that I can't think of much else. Choose a widely used module
like like cqww and see what happens.
Additionally - did you already put in your registration code??
Also feel free to email directly based on the email you received with link
to the software.

Nick,
You don't mention it, but what kind of CW decoding are you trying to
accomplish? The standard decoding through the Rttyrite window or the
multi-channel decoder found at Setup/CW Decoder...? The simpler one is to
use the Rttyrite window.
Go to Setup/Ports and identify a COM port to be used for CW. It cannot be
the one used for rig control so you need at least two different COM ports.
Check the appropriate COM port in the CW column and leave the Rig Type set
to No Rig and the other settings at the defaults. In the CW keyer type
drop
box select either a supported external keyer or PC generates. Of course
this only affects sending, not receiving. The PC generates is a poor
choice
under Windows because of background system interference that can
periodically lead to stuttering when sending from a memory buffer. Use it
if you have no other keyer option.
To receive CW g0o to Window/RTTY Window. It's a bit confusing because the
"RTTY Window" opens Rttyrite which can be used for either CW or RTTY. On
the Rttyrite window menu bar select Port and select None - you don't need
a
COM port to receive CW, only to send. The click on the Mode item and
select
CW. Now go to the TU type item and select Sound Board AFSK. The screen
will probably start to fill with random gibberish characters. You should
also now see the small WriteLog CW Receiver window open. You can use the
min and max settings to set the range of CW speeds to decode - I use 20
and
40.
Now tune around the CW portion of the band and see if you can decode a
good
signal. If you have the Super Check Partial setup calls within that file
should be highlighted in either green or yellow, indicating a good call or
a
mult. That's pretty much it for CW setup. Good luck.
