Since my PG&E noise is still grinding away my mind wandered back to the WW Digi
Test. There was a suggestion (sorry, forgot who) that perhaps the problem of
people not hearing/decoding stations could be clock related.
So I ran stats on all the DT times recorded. I don’t really know what they
should be, but they don’t look way out of whack.
For radio 1: sample size 202247, mean 0.318, std dev 0.316. Radio 2: sample
size 121571, mean 0.288, std dev 0.409
I would have thought that the mean would be closer to zero given the large
number of samples. N6ZFO where are you when I need you?
Just scanning through file I see something I don’t understand. When
transmitting, I usually see:
14:54:29 TX: WT8V NV6D CN80
14:54:34 145430 34 0.1 1829 + WT8V NV6D CN80
14:54:34 145430 35 0.1 1829 + WT8V NV6D CN80
14:54:35 145430 36 0.1 1829 + WT8V NV6D CN80
14:54:35 145430 36 0.1 1829 + WT8V NV6D CN80
14:54:36 145430 39 0.1 1829 + WT8V NV6D CN80
14:54:36 145430 39 0.1 1829 + WT8V NV6D CN80
Which I assume means my DT is 0.1 (100 ms?). This is reasonably consistent for
most of my TX lines.
For a few I see:
15:06:37 TX: CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:41 150638 35 -0.4 1828 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:41 150638 35 -0.4 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:42 150638 36 -0.4 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:42 150638 36 -0.4 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:43 150638 38 -0.4 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:43 150638 36 -0.4 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:44 150638 35 -0.4 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:06:44 150638 35 -0.4 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
And others are:
15:07:07 TX: CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:11 150707 34 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:11 150707 34 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:12 150707 35 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:12 150707 36 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:13 150707 39 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:13 150707 41 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:14 150707 41 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
15:07:14 150707 41 0.6 1829 + CQ TEST NV6D CN80
So from one to the other is 1000 ms? That seems way too big. But what do I
know. Maybe it’s normal.
So does all this data mean anything?
Scratching my head.
