[Yaesu] FT-1000MP display gone

Yesterday, after having left my (old) MP on for a few hours, I came back into 
the shack and noticed that the display was "out" - totally dark.  Recycling 
power and leaving it off (unplugged) overnight did not clear the problem.

Is there a common problem that I may have?  Is there a "reset" and, whether or 
not it would help, how is that performed?
