I'd also admit, had I appreciated the 'features' of a good regen receiver,
it, too, would have been a better choice than the Heath AR-3.  I've built
several JFET regens since then and the wonder of a single active device
that can be selective and demodulate AM, CW, SSB, and FM (in a pinch) is a
wonder.

These days the newbies start out with the Icom 7300?  What a shame.
Everyone should be required to build and operate a regen just for fun.
