For LMR, the post designationd DB (as in LMR600DB) would indicate
direct burial. However, it was my understanding shortly before leaving
PolyPhaser (which, like Times Microwave, is owned by Smith Industries)
last December, that some or all of the LMR series would be made automatically
in direct burial mode even if the DB was left off. Best to call Times in
Wallingford, Conn. Directly and get the straight skinny. They've an 800 #,
which I'm sure ought to be available from 800 info - 1.800.555.1212

PS Unless you are a purist, you can get CATV hardline usable for direct
burial (called "flooded" in their parlance) probably for nothing. These are
usually a hundred or so feet on the end of the reel which cannot be used
for much. Other than being bulky and heavy, a few people and a pickup
truck should be all that's needed. The purist comes from the 75 to 50 Ohm
issues. Personally, for most ham situations, who'd notice. Connectors are
a problem, I will agree; however, they can be homebrewed for a reasonable
amount of money. Of course if you're concerned about SWR etc Gilbert
Engineering in the Phoenix, Ariz. Area would be glad to sell you cable to
(75 Ohm) N or cable to UHF connectors.

2. Times LMR Coax LMR600
The distributor catalogs I have do not specifically say, leading me to
believe they are NOT rated for that service. If that's the case, guess it's
time to determine which will do more damage... direct burial or the lawnmower.
