Barry,

I tend to agree with you to a point. With my six stacked tribanders, I have
divided the array into three pairs, a lower, middle and upper pair. The first
three years I could switch any combination. Indeed as others say, at high
angles I could see an advantage of the lower pair over the upper pair. The
interesting thing is that at least 85% of the time the WHOLE STACK outperformed
any of the separate pairs and even two of the pairs. I have a stack of 3 each
40 meter monobanders also and my experience with it is the a same. Needless to
say, being naturally lazy, I leave the entire stack engaged all the time. It
is fun to play with, but for all around operating, the whole stack is best.

I've had a 2-stack of TH7s up for about 4 years (40 and 76 ft). I've
never seen a time when the lower is better. Generally, the stack is
best, upper second, lower third. I've heard this "folklore" about the
lower one being better, but have never seen it. Is it that the sunspots
aren't back yet, my location (EPA, abt 70 miles from ocean), or
something else?
