I hear that Joe. Like building codes, which set the minimum acceptable construction standards, I think these safety features should "not" be optional. The lack of them causes to many incidents which end up being costly in repairs or worse, harm to the tower operator. At the very least the cable tag idea is a low cost solution that manufacturers should be encouraged to provide. The additional cost of applying a band of red liquid rubber or plastic paint to the cable is nominal.

Very true, if you have an unlimited budget. There are those of us unable to afford every option on every system we purchase. I'm content being able to have a tower, and happy with the fact that it works as advertised. In short, some folks need to spend their pennies frugally. Point made?

IC...well, money well spent indeed. I guess this is another lesson in penny wise pound foolish choices.

The Triex tower line has an electric safety switch that prevents extending the tower past the recommended height. It also has a postivie pull-down cable which can be configured to act as a back-up fail safe to the switch but this would be a last resort that could lead to component failure of the pull-down system. The electric winch power cut-off feature goes a long way to help prevent operator errors. Perhaps folks should let US TOWERS in on the secret!
