That makes sense. I should have mentioned that the gain would be in the
direction of the sloper. I just checked ON4UN's book and it states the
antenna can have 10-15dB F/B over a poor ground and no more than a few dB
F/B over an excellent ground. The antenna is essentially a vertical with a
lot of high angle radiation from the wire portion of the antenna..

I use two half slopers on 160M with the feed point at 100 ft and under a
number of yagis. One slopes east and the other west and I do have gain
in the direction of the slope. More than two half slopers showed no
benefit here but you may have different results.
