I purchased the Phillystran 3 or 4 years ago (give or take) and it wasn't
that expensive. 50 some cents a foot for the 4400# test and I don't seem to
find the invoice for the 6600#, but as I recall it was around a $1 a foot.
I'll probably find it when I go out to the shop.
As far as stretch, there is very little in Phillystran, *but* you have to
compare the stretch along with the give in the catenary. I think you will
find 1/4" EHS has a relatively deep catenary and when tentioned to the same
as the equivelant Phyllistran allows more tower movement. At least it sure
feels like it to me, but that is not a real measurement.
Still, even at 50% I'd go for the Kevlar.
Both Phyllistran and fiberglass are sensitive to UV and moisture unless
protected and the Phyllystran is so much easier to work with. OTOH I do
like fiberglass and carbon fiber for airplanes. <:-))
Today's prices are 89 cents a foot for the 4000 and $1.29 for the 6700. The
ratings are a bit different than when I purchased mine, but I'm not sure
about the item numbers.
I haven't been able to find anything referencing poly rod, polyrod, or
polygon on the net except links back to TowerTalk.
