I can add a few details. I am indeed in CT, on a granite ledge about
100 ft from the Long Island Sound. There is a few feet of soil over
the ledge. The water entrance is "city water", and it runs metallic
for about 50 feet out to the road. A water entrance ground satisfies
the Code for an AC system ground, and given the granite, it may be as
good as one can get.

So the question is what to do with my SPG. I do want to give it as
good a connection as I can the to the AC ground system, preferably at
the water service entrance. In addition, I am thinking of laying out
a horizontal ground rod or two immediately outside the shack. There
is more info at
http://blog.aa6e.net/archive/2005_03_01_aa6e_log_archive.html .

Anyway, my immediate question is what's the best way to connect the
1.5 inch strap to a steel water pipe. The normal ground clamps are
for circular wire & cable. For low inductance, you'd like to wrap the
strap around the pipe, but I wonder about the copper-steel interface
-- how to prevent corrosion and keep good contact.

Again, thanks for your help.
