Thanks for the concern and the comments. Actually, as the saying goes- "we 
will see." I am not as worried about the losses due to polarization as I am 
those due to being lower. I'm 78 and have had major heart surgery so my 
wife wont let me climb any more. She worries.
The nearest local net station (except for the one just down the hill) is 
over 20 miles away. Most of them are much further, so I think I'll be OK. 
For the DX, I think polarization is almost indeterminate, and immaterial, 
for the most part. If it becomes a problem, I will listen on the vertical, 
to find out "who-where", swing the beam and switch. Most good rigs have 
good ears these days, so that should work.
I will let you know how it develops.
