Wind loading a guyed tower increases both guy tension AND tower compression
forces. Furthermore both forces will increase for a given wind load as the guy
angle is steepened.

Adding guys to a self supporting tower generally raises the allowable wind
load and don´t make it fail.

If the force of wind blows across guys would be transferred as downward
force through the tower to the base, then guy anchors would be a piece of
cake.
IMHO only the pre tension force and weight of the guys will add to downward
force to the base.
