Right! Lightning just came through 2 miles of air, which is an insulator, and
you think it can't jump from the base of the tower 50 feet away to your house?
Also what about transients coming into you house through your power lines?
Phone lines? Cable? Etc.? That strike has to have someplace to go; if there
are radials going out away from your tower with ground rods, etc, then you are
giving it somewhere to go, ideally not into your house. This is true
regardless of whether or not coax is disconnected.
