I'd expect a vertical to have a very low angle and therefore be better for DX 
work than local contacts. Same applies to the Hy-Gain tower NJ5G uses.

I already have a 6 el tribander at 105', which is too high for local contacts.

While flipping thru Low Band DXing I noticed that the 45 degree sloping dipole 
has both horizontal and vertical polarization and take off angles from 0 to 90 
degrees. May this be the solution?
