OK, I understand.
In my case I have pretty much standardized on Davis bury flex with
Amphenol 83-1SP in the shack and on the tower
for rotator loops etc. I will be putting in three 300 feet runs out to
the tower for three yagis going up. I am trying to decide on cable and
connectors for these runs. I am following this discussion with
interest, will help me decide
what route to take. I like the waterproofness (is that a word ? hihi)
of the N and the DIN connectors. I don't have any connectors yet, it
makes sense to go with the DIN from the start. I also need to decide
whether to get the crimp or clamp style connectors. I think I am on the
right forum to be steered in the right direction :-)

I looked at dins a while back, considered trying them but they were

Maybe things have changed, can you recommend a supplier, and what
kind of price for LMR600 dins ?
I'm the wrong guy to ask -- I've never considered using DINs, because
my station is essentially built out (yes, I do expand it, but I'm
certainly not going to start over -- it took me a long time to
scrounge the hard line and connectors that I have installed). I don't
need the ruggedness that some good engineers have cited as an
advantage, and I'm not doing anything demanding above 50 MHz, so I
don't need the precision of 50 ohm construction that N, BNC, and DIN
offer. The only reason I have Ns in my system is that I could not buy
UHF connectors I could buy for the 7/8-in hardline I was able to
scrounge.
I use hard line to minimize the loss in the 350 ft runs to the top of
my tower. I achieved my goal of less than 1 dB loss through 6M. Of
course, I also appreciate the improved shielding that it provides.
