> I need some advice. I have a 70' Rohn 45 and had a guy with a tractor
back into and damage one of the legs. As well, the leg was
hit hard enough to bend the diagonal cross support. I could probably,
with assistance of a come along, bend the leg back into place
and bend the diagonal support back into place as well, but that would not
resolve the huge indentation which resulted from the
contact with the tractor., e.g., the leg's strength would still be
compromised. There is no antenna on top of the tower; I was just
getting ready to place my TH-11. The tower is guyed at 30' and 50' at the
current time.

I'll put in my 2 cents worth. R45G will take a lot of abuse so I'd put
this in the 'not fatal' category. I'd use your comealong and bend it back into
place and then splint it with some angle iron and U-bolts. Seventy feet of
45G is a pretty modest installation whereas 45G is rated up to 300 feet
so you won't be pushing the envelope even with a small defect in the leg.

You're over-engineering the installation by using 3 sets of guys for
70' so I can appreciate your concern. If it was my tower, I'd do the above
repair.
