I use Rohn bolts on my tower. There are no extra lock nuts required. I
have never come across a Rohn bolt that came loose, since installation in
1998. Even if the nut came loose, I cannot imagine how the bolts could come
out by themselves. I do not think I could even get them out without
relieving the pressure from the tower section above, and using a drift.

Many Rohn products that attach to the tower, such as the ROHN Guy Bracket
Assembly GA45GD for 45G, are supplied with lock nuts. I always use these
nuts as instructed. I have never found the need to use any other hardware.

Yes, I use non-galvanized nuts with bolts that are similar to galvanized
many times on tower brackets and rotators where I do not want to use
stainless steel bolts. To be specific, I use armor coated grade 8 bolts and
stainless steel Nylock nuts. The bolt is extremely strong and the armor
coating provides excellent corrosion resistance without making it oversized.
This combination has worked quite well for me. I have to give credit to K7NV
for this idea, I started doing this after seeing that Kurt uses this
hardware combination on his prop pitch rotators.

I use Nylok's all the time. But the Rohn supplied bolt is galvanized.
AFAIK, they don't make galvanized Nylok's. At least, McMaster doesn't sell
them, which is normally a bad sign.

Does anyone have any experience with mating non-galvanized nuts with
galvanized bolts? That's a no no? I thought that they wouldn't fit due to
the excess zinc material, but I've never tried it. I suppose I can also
replace the bolt with non-galvanized.
