I second the clear EXTERIOR acrylic spray 2 coats over the final 33 or 88. Looks good after 5 years. Underneath for me is the commercial Andrew kit buildup of 33 tape and elastomer.

I've found that water can wick under the silicone Rescue and 3M tapes. For SteppIR joints it is awesome - 7 years no degradation of the 3M product. Also for wear resistance, it got a lot of use on my sailboat turnbuckles to prevent sail and line chafe and snag.

   Nothing said about UV-resistance.
That's because there ain't none. It's for DIRECT BURIAL.
The pros I used to run into on cell sites used clear acrylic spray paint
as the final coat. I do like the use of Rescue Tape. It's the same stuff that SteppIR
uses for their fiberglass element joints and is reasonably bombproof.

After years of using regular Scotch 33 and 88, my favorite tape is now the
2" wide Scotch 88 10356 rolls. It's the Bell System standard and will cover lots of
problems reliably. You don't need any additional coatings for it and it'll last for years.
Just be sure to let the tape RELAX after cutting it and before laying it down as the last
layer. Any tension will create flagging as the loose end flies around in the wind.
