That works. Something must have gotten awry in the original long long URL posted. Tnx.

Dave,

How long has the Tailtwister been in use ? It could be something
internal causing the intermittent turning also.
For a permanent fix to the terminal strip problem get one of these
connector kits below. The old terminal strip is removed
and replaced with one of these connector assemblies. Then you can
unplug the cable easily. Nice gold plated contacts
that won't rust. If the terminal strip is rusty, you might be abe to
temporarily clean it but it will not be long term solution.
There are replacement original terminal strips available for the
Tailtwister but it makes sense to do an upgrade.

Now having said all that, if you are going to do this upgrade, it is
best to remove the rotator and work on it in your shop.
Then you might as well do an overhaul. They are easy to overhaul,
replace the bearing balls, regrease, etc.
all the parts are pretty cheap on MFJ's site. There are some good
videos on You Tube for doing the overhaul.

I have a HyGain Tailtwister rotor that works just fine, but the thing
is sometimes intermittent
because the contacts on the terminal strip have rusted, making a good
connection difficult. Anyone
have any ideas I might do to clean those terminals without actually
removing the entire strip of 8
terminals? Getting inside the rotor from this angle to swap this
terminal strip for a new strip will
not be easy, and I really don't want to break the case open to make the
change from the inside.
Hence my dilemma.

I have thought about trying to clean the existing strip by sanding, but
I can't get into where the
actual contact is made. I had someone recommend using Naval Jelly to
clean the rust away, but that
seemed kind of harsh.

I am open to thoughts and any ideas the group might have.

Thanks in advance.
