Beacon (?) on 3502.5, etc.

I checked the "1993 Klingenfuss Guide To Utility Stations" (a fantastic
German publication) and did not see anything listed for 3.502 MHz or close.
The "repeathing Dahs" sequence sounds like one of the ex-USSR beacons (like
the widely heard beacon on 7.002 MHz).

I am preparing an article for "The Low Band Monitor" on using non-commerical
and broadcast stations in or near the 160m & 80m ham bands as propagation
indicators. When stations like GNI in England on 3.517 MHz and CTP Lisbon
Portugal on 3.782 are booming in to Colorado prior to Euro sunrise, I'll make
another pot of coffee!

I would like to hear from any low band DXers who also use such non-commerical
and broadcast stations as low band propagation aids.

Well, I have an answer to all this: get a 60 MHz Pentium and
256MB of system memory and run everything from a virtual
drive! I haven't used the DVP yet, so I'm just speculating....

Let's put it this way: that's what I'm bringing home from work
after Christmas! If my RF only equalled my computing power!

Record every prefix that you think will come up. And every double letter
combination. Like I said, lots of disk space.

Have you noticed how much more "normal" the recorded voices the telpehone
company has now sound? The algorithms exist in the world and are
improving. But I don't think they handle the range of combinations we
are asking for on a PC platform.

>>> wanna buy a real workstation??

It's still a good idea. Just needs more computer power and more software
(the answer to all modern life questions)!

Anyone who worked CN2JF or CN2JR on 40 or 80 meters was probably
working a slim. I've received some QSLs for both CN2JF and CN2JR on
those bands, but it wasn't me...

Jack: did you not make any 40 meter QSO's before the contest on
SSB or CW? Bunches of guys here in the Southeast worked a very
active CN2JR/CN2JF before the test, and I worked CN2JR right
at the end of the test on 40 SSB...tnx...73, Tom WB4IUX

Both W2GD and N6BT will be in P4. N6BT will probably be P40X again this
year.

Hi contest folks,

Imagine: We meet in the next contest and I send you the info:
    599001 PSE QSL CRD 73 DE IK2RMZ

What's ur reaction?

1.) I don't QSL, I never do

2.) I don't cause I got more than enough QSLs from Italy.

3.) I don't QSL unless I receive a qsl

4.) I do QSL because of the request

5.) I do QSL if my computer confirms that I didn't QSL b4

6.) I do always QSL

7.) other

2nd question:
Would you interpret the phrase
    599001 PSE QSL 73 DE IK2RMZ
to be identical to the phrase above?
(pse dont discuss whether it is rite or wrong to send 73
the stations that do not participate seriously tend to send
it.)
