Thanks to all that took the time to respond. I really appreciate your
observations and opinions. I'll not waste reflector bandwidth and post
all the responses. If you'd like, I can email them to you individually.

Bottom line is that the 930 is still a desired rig for the contester.
Many of you commented that "if you don't need (or can get by without)
the computer interface, go with the 930". Another common comment was
that the rcvr in the 940 was worse than the 930, but by performing some
(simple?) modifications, one can bring a 940 up to par with a 930.

So, I'm in the market for a good, clean, late-model 930. As luck would
have it, my friend who offered to sell his 930 to me is now having
second thoughts. I'm psyched and ready to deal. Anyone know where I
can find one?

I am still considering selling mine. Need to check on what ohte rradios
I can set up easily at my home small station. You may recall mine is the
one with all the good guy mods ad seems to be very bulletproof. I really
love the radio, and I costs far less than a new rig, whichmay do more but
who really needs it?

To Sarah Brady, Howard Metzenbaum, Dianne Feinstein and Charles Schumer,
Thanks. Without you, I would neither be a gun owner nor a Life Member of
the NRA.

A friend of mine is moving to Phoenix. He enjoys contesting and DXing and
wants to be able to install a reasonable antenna farm. How reasonable?
Right now he has 1 50 footer and a small tribander, so he certainly doesn't
want to settle for anything less - maybe 2 towers eventually, with pertinent
monobanders. From what he's seen on a tour with a not-too-knowledgeable
real-estate-type, between local regulations and CC&R's, antennas/towers are
not easy to get permits for anywhere in the Phoenix area.

Anyone have any advice, suggestions on an antenna-friendly neighborhood,
etc.?

Please email me directly.

Thanks,

Bruce WW1M
