This brings up one of my big pet-peeves.  If someone asks you to confirm ur
callsign, information, etc., on phone, say ROGER, or if condx are poor, a
series of ROGERS.  This is much more effective than saying "QSL", which is
something that comes through the bureau.

I don't know why this "QSL"  habit lingers.  

I have found two items to be very effective in getting fills or confirming
information in contests, especially DX contests where there is a language
barrier. (and especially JA's who seem to understand this technique well.)  I
will repeat the questionable information followed by the reply I expect to
receive if I am correct (Roger?  or OK?).  If I don't hear the expected reply
then I know to dig more to make corrcetions.

Example:

Me:        "Cq Contest  N5RZ"

Other:      Japan **&^&%$#$  Bravo Florida

Me:         Bravo Florida 59 Texas

Other:     Roger,  Japan Hotel 3 Delta Bravo Florida  (but lotsa qrm)  59020

Me:        Japan Hotel 3 Delta Bravo Florida  OK? OK?   or Roger? Roger?

Other:     OK OK  (or Roger Roger)

Me:        roger 73  QRZ..........

I use "OK" with JA's because they seem to understand that better.  The OK or
Roger is much easier to understand with weak sigs and/or heavy qrm.

For anyone interested, I have finally arrived at a solution for the "A"/"B"
rig/antenna swapping question I had.

The mythical "light bulb" light up over my head about two weeks ago, as I
was looking at a Henry Radio ad for the Tohtsu coaxial relays they carry,
wondering why they were wasting valuable advertising budget on RELAYS, when
they could have had an ad for 10K amplifiers or something else more
interesting. 

I thought "well, let's give 'em a call about this transfer relay thing".

Sure enough, they did indeed stock DPDT Tohtsu brand relays, with 12VDC
coil.  A little cross-port jumpering with some RG214U, a couple of "T"
connectors, and a control head to provide the 12V, and do the "A" / "B"
switching, and I'll be in business.  

This relay is model CX-800M.  It is VERY nicely built.  I got the model
with SO-239 connectors.  The connectors have gold a plated center conductor,
and Teflon dielectric.  The body of the relay feels and looks like it was
cut out of a solid piece of aluminum.  The CX-800M with UHF connectors is
$189 (the version with N type connectors was on sale for about $40 less).
