There was no 160M operation this year. The building I live in is under
renovation and is surrounded by bamboo scaffolding. This prevented us from
dropping the usual 160M top fed 1/2 wave wire down to the ground.
This was the first contest from VS6WO where we had NO 10M opening to Europe
whatsoever. In CQWW SSB, we worked 60 countries on 10M.
We were connected to the Hong Kong Packetcluster for this contest. Total
connected to our cluster: VS6WO and VS6BG.
Conditions on 80 and 40 were excellent.
Station 1: FT1000D + Alpha 87A
Station 2: FT1000D + Alpha 87A
ICE + Double Stubs + Top Ten switching
80M: HF1V vertical
40M: 402CD Driven Element
20M: 3 element monoband
15M: 3 element monoband
10M: 4 element monoband
All antennas at 900 feet.

Had fun trying SO for the first time ! Vy different not having packet.
I'll just have to lern how to do this. The beginning of the new XX station
did real well. nothing realy for 15 or 160 yet...20, 40 and 80 worked super
the total of 20 hours with the rate over 100qs and the 158 hour on 80
were the highlights of a 46 hour operation !

|This is one of the most encouraging things I've heard about ham radio in
|the last two years. Once the New Zealanders convince the next WARC (or the
|one after that) to eliminate the Code Requirement, The HF bands will
|be totally covered with no-code lids using HF like car phones and CBs.
|The hope is that maybe, because of propagation effects, 160 will remain
|as a band where good code ops can go to enjoy whats left of the hobby.
|
|HF rigs will be available for $199 - like CD players. Of course, who
|will want one then?
------------------------
Obviously it's time to extract my earlier note about CW Snobs from the
files and re-distribute it.
It really is too bad about all those nasty newcomers entering the hobby to
interfere with the simple pleasures of elite, sophisticated people (like
us) who can afford the occasional FT1000D. What's worse, we'll have to
waste our valuable time teaching those ignorant "lids" how to upgrade.
John, NT5C.
P.S.
I have 3 "no-code lids" coming to my shack this weekend, to see a serious
HF DX station for the very first time. Perhaps I should cancel?

Remember these scores are yours. If they do not look right then it is
the person who sent them. I change nothing that is sent to me.
REMEMBER THESE ARE NOT OFFICAL RESULTS! THIS IS NOT WHERE YOU SEND
YOUR LOGS! Just do not want anyone to be confused.
You might want to double check some of the scores on here and the
breakdown sheet. People are starting to send me their updated logs
and I am changing them.
I hope everyone understands that the top three classes are All Band.
If there are anyother questions feel free to email me. You can join
the pileup. I wish I could have started a run like this during the
contest.
