If you are looking forward to the contest season but not necessarily to
the QSL chores it brings, maybe I can be of service.

I will be willing to be QSL Manager for any "ACTIVE" DX station who can
provide me logs. To be "ACTIVE" is to be at least in the area of 2000
contacts or more during the Contest Season. This is more than easily
accomplished if you participate in both the CQ and ARRL contests. The
logs can be via E-mail, packet, on disk, or even paper logs. Any
interested parties can contact my via E-mail wb2raj at juno.com I am
sure we can work out any details.

Good luck in the contest.

QSL Manager for EM3W, FK5DX, FK8GM, J39BW, LZ2TU, ST2/G4OJW, ST2AA, ST0K
and UZ3AYR.

4M5X will be the callsign used (not YV10M from La Orchila Island as
previously posted) for a M/S from YV5JDP's QTH in Caracas, Venezuela.
     Ops are: WM2C, YV5JDP, YV5EED, YV5AMH, YV5LWM, YV5MHX and maybe a few
     others.

QSLs for 4M5X, as for previous 4M5X operations, go to the WS4E mail
drop. WS4E is not the QSL manager, but will get your QSLs to Caracas
in a safe fashion. Please include sufficient postage for return from
     Venezuela.

I would think that if the FCC were processing them first come first
served people would be getting calls long before now. These comments
also contradict what the FCC has stated. I guess time will only tell.

I wonder if others had a red number writen in on the face of their Vanity
Callsign Fee checks sent to the FCC ?

I assume that some form of numbering was done in the recording in order
of placement of the checks into a bank deposit. My check had a handwriten
large #14 on the face of the check. I don't know if it is sequential for
maybe a 25 or 50 item deposit slip or any other reason.

With all the reports of the FCC having no RANDOM computer facilities and
some verbal assurances that first trays would see first contact I guess
I'm as anxious as everyone else to second guess what's about to happen.

I just spoke to a representative at the FCC. I was told that the
drawings will indeed be RANDOM. They have the computer setup for it and
that the last application inputted will have as good as chance as the
first. They are still hoping to process the first day applications by
the end of the month.

K1TO and I purchased a Rohn gin pole about 10 years ago in a joint ownership
agreement. Now that he's gone off
to Florida, one of us (me!) needs to purchase a replacement gin pole.

Anyone have any experiences and recommendations for a gin pole? Rohn gets
big bucks for theirs,
can anyone recommend some of the others on the market? How do they compare
with Rohn as far as
price and quality is concerned? Rugged enough for Rohn 45/55? Any great
deals on a Rohn gin pole?

Just in case anyone is interested, here is my score for this year's edition of WAG contest:

80 Q's x 23 DOK's = 5520 pts.

All in 15m CW. Would be much better if the DL's would point their beams to SA once in a while...

Rig: 100W + single band yagi.

Just pouring over some old logs and rate sheets... Seems like in 94 we had
some kind of major storm on Saturday morning and the bands went dead. My
logs indicate that I didn't even CQ the first morning until 1730Z on 20M.
Then Sunday 15M opened up for us rednecks and we made up some ground.

Last year we had pretty good conditions on 15M considering the sunspot
cycle. Conditions were not disturbed and we got murdered on 15M.

I wonder what will happen this year?
