If you thought you had problems with your neighbours during
contests, take a look at this pithy little news item:
Bosnia-Herzegovina: SFOR Threatens to Confiscate Equipment of
Radio-Amateurs
Doboj, 7 Jun 1997 (SRNA)---A military police unit of the
Nordic-Polish SFOR [Stabilization Force] brigade based in
Sockovac in Petrovo municipality threatened radio-amateurs from
Doboj with confiscation of their equipment if they did not leave
Ostrovica hill on Mt. Ozren, deep in the territory of the Serb
Republic.
The Doboj radio-amateur club reported today that an international
competition of radio-amateurs, at which all the radio-amateur
clubs from the Serb Republic take part and which is held every
first weekend of the month, was under way.
The statement adds that SFOR military police "surrounded our camp
and obstructed" the establishment of radio-amateur links when the
radio-amateurs from Doboj refused to leave the area.
The radio-amateurs turned to the IPTF [International Police Task
Force] for help and said that they would, if the IPTF did not
protect them, inform the international association of
radio-amateurs about SFOR's action and ask the association to
condemn it.
