[CQ-Contest] K4OJ @ K4XS, Murphy is an SOB!

Lemme see if I got this straight, Jim... You hung around your home station
until it was trashed and unusable... Then you went over to a super contest
station and hung around that till it was nearly trashed - in less than one
day, even... And some guy named Murphy is supposed to take the fall? Whoo
eeeee!

Now, lemmee tell you about my SS.... Just fooling around because I couldn't
make an all band effort, haven't done ANY contesting in nearly three years,
and I'm really rusty... Thought I would do a single band, early evening, 80
meter fun run because I have to work every day... I get going about 5
minutes after the start on a dead band.... OK, I expected that, so it's not
a problem... About 2 minutes later I get my first Q and he gives me a
precedence of "U".... Well, lemmee tell you that it is real fun to try and
convince the supposed latest version of TRLog to take a U when it has NO
intentions of doing so... After unzipping and reloading the supposed latest
version three times and getting no where I drive back to the office and
recopy the original download off the hard drive... Drive back home and
reload everything and get exactly the same results of zippo, nada, zilch...
So, I spend the rest of the two evenings replacing U and M with B... Now I
have a log of just under 400 Q's on 80 which I won't even submit because
about 5% of the entries are busted! Not only that, but every once in a
while I would forget and copy the U or the M and hit enter and everything
would come to a dead halt... A few times I hit so many keys trying to sort
it out in the midst of a hot run that I had to simply erase the entry and go
to the next Q, who then questioned why he was getting the same number as the
previous guy...

Too bad we aren't closer so we could get together to cry in our beer...
Ain't contesting grand?
Anyway, as my pappy used to say, "If it were easy, then everybody would do
it."

Cheers ... Denny
