When the contest organisers defined the Single op "Assisted", category, they
should have used other name like:

"Single Op. using packet"

That way, many of those who don't understand that in the present time there
is no reason the split single op in two, would understand the situation
without problem.

Because:

If single Op. using packet is still single op.
Plain single op. (allowed to use packet) would continue to be single op.

Subject: [CQ-Contest] Big SS Score from the NE

The Northeast is at a slight disadvantage according to more complete
statistical comparisons, also. However, the more humble the station, the
less profound the comparable disadvantage. Very limited stations, such as
those with dipoles only, seem to do very well from the Northeast and the
Great Lakes (also "too close") regions, exceeding the results obtained using
similar stations in regions typically connected with high scores. Callsigns
associated with gigantic multi-multi operations from the Northeast don't
typically fare much better than dipole-and-tribander efforts from the same
area. I harken back to the days in the late 50's or early 60's when W9WNV
was winning the SS with some consistency using only dipoles the roof of his
apartment.
