Hi Gang,

Firstly a big thank-you to all who took the time to reply to my origional
question, It was a serious question to which I wanted a serious answer, and
I got them, good answers all. Without exception the answer was if I use
packet during a contest then I enter in the "assisted" category. That's
good enough for me. The other reason for asking the question was I did not
want to cheat (deliberately or otherwise) by making use of a facility in my
given category for which I was not entitled to use. If I compete in the
contest in a given category I wish to do so fairly. From some of the
responses I received it would seem that the "cheat" of using this facility,
although not permitted under a given category, would be easy to hide but
that is not, IMHO, "playing the game". As you may gather from my rather
naive question, I'm new to contesting (first time out last year in the CQWW
SSB and had a blast) and I'll undoubtedly learn as much from operating in
the contest as I will from the contributions here on the reflector, so until
I stick my head above the parapet again, thanks all and see some of you in
CQWW CW.
