[CQ-Contest] Re: Packet pile ups - do we need them?

I noticed another byproduct of the packet-induced pile ups this last weekend: failure of the big-gun stations in rarer QTH's to give their call signs frequently. I guess they just assume that they are being spotted and that everyone will know the call sign. This factor just contributes to more chaos on the DX frequency with a bunch of stations throwing in ?'s. Do we really need packet spots?
