Don't be ridiculous. Using a webcam is in no possible meaning of the term,
'a clear case of unethical solicitation'.

ZX- say what ya will dude but the end result is it is an "advertisement" and
as such a solicitation would be the outcome! Kinda like why they give away
free tastes in the grocery store of that frozen pizza, etc...its a "hook"
I agree it is a wonderful time to enjoy the technology surrounding us but as
very well stated by others here on the reflector it would violate the rules.
Today it is but a slide show with a still shot every few minutes. what I do
with the internet used to be a mail account only - just so I could subscribe
to the cq-contest reflector, and that was not long ago. Today I do
EVERYTHING on the web, from buying gear to airline tickets to groceries to
a new computer to research to....well....way more than simply "MCI-Mail"...
they may be slow motion still ads now but most likely it will be that webcam
contesting peaks will be full blown contest commercials in just a few
years...I am sure views will include signs in the background like "help me
beat K1TO I am on 28030 now!"
Webcam is an opportunity for us to show contesting to the curious world who
may only see it as massive QRM and gain understanding sure...but...face it
you know you would tune your rig to that frequency if you saw it, its only
human nature!
"uh K4OJ your 59 Saskatchewan, love your webcam dude - is that a Logitech
camera your running there?"
"QSL QRZed K4OJ" ....muttering as voice drops-"gawd I hate this mode" then
thinking about his competition and wondering what kinda camera K2WR has on
his site?
NO -never happen - wrong mode!
