Not only cheating, but outright FCC rule violations.  One VERY famous
contest op (you'd recognize his call immediately) told me that if he
hears someone calling CQ without getting an answer in five or six
tries, he simply takes over the frequency and calls CQ himself.

I couldn't believe it then, and I'm still appalled.  He will never get
a call from me in a contest.
