Looking at number of sprint contest entrants the QSY/QSO rule is not welcome
by everybody (occasionals) but only by competeing contesters.
Also to force interesting DX stations to QSY after each QSO is against the
interest of most people that increase partecipation with different aims than
competition, last but not least it discourages temporary big efforts. Who
will go infact to activate rare country, possibly erecting and dismantling
antennas, to log only a fraction of the qsos manageable in a 48 hours pileup
?
Or who, in a DX'pedition will eneter a contest to log less QSOs than in a
massive pile up ?
Without a large partecipation I don't see very many chances to organize an
event with chances to last more than few hours, but short periods are
against a WW situation because people in some areas of the world that won't
find conditions along the few hours of activity.
QSO/QSY rule is good for short events that are regionally issued to have
same conditions and only between specialized individual competitors.
I don't think there is a problem to find out another afternoon for it.
