Fellow contesters,
We were working hard and hoping to have all the necessary pieces for
successful launch of Tesla Cup 2000 Contest.
I offered to ARRL/IARU, CQ Magazine and major contest club to become
cosponsor or godfather of this event. All we asked was to devote few pages to
rules, results and records, we would do all the work with administering the
contest. After much of procrastination and delays they all declined to get
behind this event. We were hoping for gaining some prestige and support from
the old ham institutions giving us a needed boost for this worthwhile event.
There is much discussions going on how to save our hobby/sport, but little
willingness to do and to support the event that would bring more
participants, to publicize and popularize ham radio.
Our next alternative is to give the Tesla Cup home on the Internet and
make it truly global event, with good, reasonably fair rules, sensible
scoring system, attractive reward and trophy program -- make it OUR contest
-- the true World Championship - which we are missing.
While at WRTC in Slovenia, I had the chance to distribute the latest
draft of TC rules and to discuss it with our prominent contesters. They
praised the rules, they like the contest and many offered help and support.
This was very encouraging and gave me boost to continue my efforts in getting
Tesla Cup off the ground.
Here is what Tesla Club is going to do:
1. Finalize and fine tune the contest rules.
2. Setup and maintain the Tesla Cup home page.
3. Setup automatic processing of the logs, results, record tables.
4. Step-up promotion of Tesla Cup and Amateur Radio Contesting.
Here is what you can do:
1. Participate in the contest.
2. Help to develop and promote the Tesla Cup in your area.
3. Get your club involved, sponsor trophies and prizes.
To find out about the rules, reasons behind them and comments please check

We are especially looking for comments from clubs about the club competition
rules.
We are looking for members - representatives of major contest clubs on the
contest committee - they will vote on the rules/changes.
We are working on number of new and exciting ideas and we will keep you
informed of the progress.
It is too late for serious run of TC 2000, time has approached the date,
but you are welcome to give it a practice or trial run. The date is Sept.
30th and Oct. 1st 2000.
The first official and serious run will be in 2001, when we should have
all the necessary support and publicity in place and get in sync with the
years in the new millennium.
Lets make it our #1 contest event, with good rules, Internet publicity,
fast results and most of all - fun for all!
We took the initiative, will you join us?
