Not speaking for Randy, but I know a number of SO2R ops (including myself)
who refuse to check the box on the 3830 reporting form simply because we
believe whether we were 2R or not is not relevent. Its not that we are
trying to hide anything, but rather that differentiating 1R vs. 2R simply
serves to make some people feel better about their scores, and precipitates
the kind of pointless arguing which has been raging on this reflector for
the past several weeks.

The major contest sponsors differentiate single-ops as either unassisted or
assisted. The number of radios is not defined. These are the rules, so
get used to it.

People who rage against 2R primarily do so because they themselves don't
want to make the investment in equipment nor learning the skill to do
so. This is their choice. Instead, they want to lower everyone to their
simplified level of operating. The SO2Rers do it because it improves their
scores and causes them to have more fun. Taking this away simply because
other people refuse to make the commitment is simply not fair.

I predict if SO2R was outlawed, the order at the top of the single op
rankings would not change, except for K3ZO moving up a few slots. SO2R is
not forced on anybody, but rather is the "price of admission" these days to
be competitive.

Let's stop this thread...

HelpHello friends...
I am here just to say TNX for cq-contest
reflector. Every time that I had a question,
I had also an answer from people here!!
Special recognition when as "CQ XXXXX"
looking for a specific country or city in the
world. Now, Dayton isn't more just Hamvention
place, but also AC8G home, that everytime is
waiting for us... Toronto isn't more just the place
that we can remember from Skydome or Blue
Jays, but for our friends that received us at
restaurant for a very animated dinner !!!
We lost the chance to know other people
at Cleveland, because our passage there was
during weekdays, but a lot of E-mails help
us to find some good places to visit. Thanks
to people in Portugal, that wait us in your=20
houses... Cq-contest reflector is really the
best way to find people... Thanks everybody
and thanks=20
