That's not what I read in the 2000 rules: "First full weekend of December."
There is no qualifier about "following the first Friday of December."
Yes, the contest starts a couple of hours before Saturday, but Friday
isn't a part of the weekend, and that's how the contest dates are defined.
Plus, the 10 Meter Contest is held on the "Second full weekend of December."
(as opposed to "The first full weekend after the 160 Meter Contest.")
This year, the second full weekend of December is 8-9. So, are the
two contests held the same weekend this year? No, I look at the 10 Meter
Contest web page (http://www.arrl.org/contests/announcements/rules-10m.html)
which has been already updated for 2001, and see that the contest is
actually scheduled for December 15-16, which to me is the _third_ full
weekend of December. Just look at the calendar!

Despite the dates on the web page, this isn't what the rules _say_:

When I was scheduling things on my personal calendar months ago, I got
these two contest dates wrong because of this.

Maybe this is something that needs clarifying when the rules for the 2001
contests are actually published in QST next month. I, at least, had been
fully expecting the 160 Meter Contest to be on the weekend of December 1-2
and the 10 Meter Contest to be December 8-9.
