[CQ-Contest] "Please copy my number"

To me, anything that is NOT part of the exchange is a bad thing.

Particularly during bad QRM. So "Please copy" and "check" could easily be
confused as part of the exchange, and perhaps "4 M XY4XYZ 89 Colorado"
becomes "354 M XY4XYZ 68 Colorado"

Similarly, it seems redundant, once the station whose CQ you're answering
gives your call correctly, to then give the call in phonetics during the
exchange. I already have it, so if you're giving it to me again in
phonetics, are you trying to tell me I have it wrong? During bad QRM it is
hard to get that straight.

If you come back and breeze through your callsign without phonetics, that's
a pretty good indication I read your call back to you correctly.

Granted, W 7 kbek kbek has a point, but Whiskey Bravo One Germany Quebec
Radio a thousand or so unnecessary times adds up in a hurry. (No offence
Mitch, just using the longest callsign I could think of).

And please, please, please: when it's bad condx, do NOT use cutesy
phonetics. Use the standard ones. If the band is open and clear and you want
to be an Xcited Termite, fine, but when the bands are in as bad a shape as
they were this past weekend, Curious George just gets into trouble.
