2.1.Single Operator: One person performs all transmitting, receiving, and
logging functions as well as equipment and antenna adjustments.

   1. 2.1.1.Use of spotting assistance or nets (operating arrangements
involving other individuals, DX-alerting nets, packet, Internet,
multi-channel decoders such as CW Skimmer, etc) is not permitted.

Please note the part that says operating arrangements involving other
individuals is not permitted. Someone holding a frequency and then giving
back is an operating arrangement.

Doing this is either a DQ or a reclassification from SO to SO unlimited or
possibly Multi op.

You received assistance plain and simple. No gray areas for me on this one.

The SS rules detail an unlimited class for SO but the HF rules do not have a
definition for this class. There is a class called Single Op Assisted.
