Nowadays the loneliest contest of the year for me is the CQ WPX. In any
contest the number of mulit mulit on the band sets the tone. They set
like islands a calm sea waiting for you to call them, thus allowing you
to try during the propagation conditions, and giving you lots of fun
contesting activity.

Friday night in CQ WPX, HK1NA and KL7RA were rolling in, and I called
over the hours I was on the air. Think if it as playing LOTTO. Who knows?
I might get lucky.

CQ WW there might be 10 multi multi stations on at once, CQ WPX, two.

So you scan the band as fast as your hand can turn the dial, hoping to
find that contester who asked someone on 80 or 40 to drop down for a
contact, and hope for the few seconds he is on the band that he hears me
calling him.
