For me, any good enough monetary or negotiable award is not at 8k US level.
I spend only around 400US per contest just to get there, be there and get
back home.

Those who spend 2k US or more for just getting on the air for the contest,
plus station expenses, 8k US is no compensation for their current effort
level.

Should any prize money be the driver in this game we play, the stations
would get smaller. Maximum station would be maybe three or five times the
biggest prize worth. We have stations around the World that would equal
more than a 15k US prize.

It is difficult to see any 15k US prize for any contest winner, around 8k
for the runner up and 3k for the third.


Result:
We would get much fewer QSOs as those big stations with their stacks simply
would not be there to hear any QRP signal more than 4000 miles away.


Less QSOs would be less Fun.
