[CQ-Contest] Rule Changes for the CQ WW WPX SSB and CW Contests in 2021

Mark,
First, great to always work you in WPX and many other contests.
You make good points. The original SO category is being diminished.
Why not keep the 36 hour SO category unassisted for those who wish it?
It can't be that hard to keep tracking it since it's already been an existing category for many years. What's to be gained from its elimination?

Jeff KU8E also brings up some good statistics, I didn't look it up, but apparently there were very large numbers of SO entries in both CW and SSB WPX this year and last.
Personally, I have most often entered Assisted, but that's my choice. I think those wanting 36 hour Single Op should still have it.
I also use the overlay Triband/Wires and am grateful for that category.
No doubt many others feel the same about traditional Single Op Unassisted.
73 to all,
Darrell AB2E

I am very disappointed that the CQ WPX Contests eliminated single operator categories.

It isn't a merger - there is nothing left of the single operator category rules.

Unfortunately, now the internet and, for CW, the RBN are required to be competitive in WPX. :-(.

It is sad that the game of WPX can't be played competitively just on the radio any more.
